biographies

 First cover

For my First cover, it will feature Myra, 26, on the front who is a rising Bengali actor from the new hit movie soon to hit cinemas "Crash Landing". She was born and raised by her parents in Dhaka, Bangladesh, along with her younger brother and sister where she spent her days helping her family in their local fruit and vegetable business while also looking after her siblings. Myra had a  normal Bengali upbringing, attending school and clubs; however, all she wanted is to be a part of the acting industry. Yet, due to her upbringing and childhood, it was proving to be very difficult. She grew up with nobody to idolise and there was an overbearing lack of courage by her peers since it was so uncommon for someone to have such ambitious dreams. This resulted in it being a very long time since she got her first acting job on a locally filmed sit-com that gained her some recognition by a small group of loyal followers. After years of filming on local shows, she got the chance to travel overseas and feature in a wide range of blockbuster movies, adverts and television shows which lead to Myra landing a lead role in a new hit movie. Throughout these many years of ups and downs, Myra realised that the reasoning behind the lack of positivity and praise she got from her peers in her childhood was due to the low amount of recognition people got from Bangladesh and counties alike so it was a common thought that nobody will make it "big" in the film industry. Myra strongly believes that for kids, there is nobody to look up to or to follow in their steps who come from minority groups and communities. The main source, in her opinion, that causes this shortage of exposure to the world is the media. This is why she is being featured on the front cover of this issue to bring light to this topic. multiple subjects will be covered in this issue and help to give a platform and voice to actors and celebrities alike who may not have the spotlight that they deserve. Many different countries from all around the world will be included in this issue and hopefully help people of all ages, who may not have an inspiration, achieve their dreams.

Second cover

For my second cover will feature Elina Diak who is a 19 year old singer from the city of Odessa, Ukraine. From when she was young she always loved to sing and perform for others and spent her free time listening to music whenever she could. However, she grew up around other music which originated in America, England and countries alike which made her realize the lack of music and exposure the world got from other smaller countries. Due to her being an only child who was brought up by her mother, she didn't have many people to look up to so she idolized the people she saw in music videos, magazines and TV shows despite nobody representing what she knew and what she grew up around. So, as she grew older she started producing her music and releasing it to the world in hope it will reach the countries which once influenced her childhood many years ago. As years went on, her music started to slowly grab the attention of others around the world which enabled her to travel and fulfill her long dream of representing Ukraine. Elina strongly believes that music transcends language and it can be enjoyed by everyone but there is a lack of foreign music from minority countries that has so much uniqueness to offer to the music industry. Through music you can show your culture and your countries beauty and that is what Elina strives to achieve through her music. Many cultures around the world are under or misinterpreted and in this issue for The independent representation will be equal and shine a light on cultures and ways of life that can impact others positively as well as educate. The exposure of smaller countries to the world is important to Elina and others in order to cut stereotypes and negative connotations which may be linked with other countries. Both the Independent (Hearst) and Elina share the same ideology so it is heavily conveyed throughout their issues.
